Today, Amtrak announced it appointed Michael DeCataldo Jr. to the new position of Northeast Corridor general manager. He will be responsible for safety, customer satisfaction, ridership, on-time performance and financial results for the Northeast Corridor business line.

DeCataldo currently serves as Amtrak's general superintendent for the Northeast Division. Prior to joining Amtrak as an assistant general manager of customer service in 1995, he held positions at New Jersey Transit and Conrail/Penn Central Railroad.

Amtrak is in the midst of implementing a new strategic plan that calls for implementing various business lines to help the railroad focus on performance improvements. In addition to Northeast Corridor services, Amtrak is creating business lines for long-distance, state corridor and commuter operations.
