Bombardier obtains approval for automatic train protection system
advertisement
Bombardier Transportation’s EBI Cab 2000 automatic train protection system recently was approved for commercial operation on Spain’s high-speed AVE S-130 trains. It’s the first approval of an AVE S-130 train equipped with Bombardier’s onboard European Train Control System rail technology, according to Bombardier.
The authorization covers 23 trains that will operate on the Madrid-Valladolid and Madrid-Lérida lines. Spanish national railway RENFE has ordered 45 AVE S-130 trains from a Talgo-Bombardier consortium. The vehicles are designed to operate with all existing national signaling technologies. Trains will run on Spain’s new high-speed lines, as well as its conventional network.
The EBI Cab 2000 system will enable RENFE to increase train speeds from 124 mph to 155 mph.
