Bombardier Transportation has installed its highest-speed implementation of European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 2 signaling technology.
In partnership with systems integrator China Railway Signaling and Communications Corp., the supplier has provided its BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 450 solution to China’s WuGuang DPL Co. for the 620-mile Wuhan-to-Guangzhou passenger-rail line, which began operations on Dec. 26. Trains operate along the line at speeds up to 220 mph.
The line is the first to operate under the new “very high speed” rail control system in China, CTCS3, which applies the ERTMS Level 2 technology. ERTMS enables trains to cross international borders without having to change the locomotive or driver.
Bombardier’s INTERFLO 450 solution features 120 BOMBARDIER EBI Cab 2000 automatic train control onboard systems for 60 high-speed trainsets and nine EBI Com radio block centers for the line and stations.
