advertisement
Bombardier Transportation has signed a contract with Talgo SA to develop and supply components for 36 very high-speed trains being built for Saudi Arabia's Saudi Railways Organization.
Talgo is a member of the Al Shoula consortium, led by Spanish railway operator RENFE and railway infrastructure company ADIF. The group recently was contracted by the Saudi railway to build and operate a high-speed rail line connecting Mecca and Medina with trains operating at speeds up to 280 mph.
Bombardier will supply its MITRAC 3000 propulsion and control package and its FLEXX 350 high-speed bogies for the power heads of the trains. The firm also will provide maintenance services for all Bombardier-built systems and components for 12 years. The contract is valued at $367 million.
