advertisement
Bombardier Transportation recently signed a framework agreement with Siemens AG to develop and supply components for up to 300 ICx high-speed trains Siemens is building for Germany’s Deutsche Bahn AG.
Bombardier will supply Siemens with various components, including all the body shells and trailer bogies for the new fleet. The company also will complete final assembly of all end coaches and some intermediate coaches.
Deutsche Bahn has placed an initial order for 130 trains. Bombardier’s component contract totals about $1.8 billion. The agency is expected to place an order for another 90 trains, which would bring Bombardier’s contract value to about $3 billion, according to Bombardier. The framework agreement between Siemens and Deutsche Bahn also includes an option for up to 80 additional trains that can be ordered at any time until 2030.
Production on the ICx fleet is scheduled to begin in summer 2013.
