Bombardier's ZEFIRO receives German design award

Bombardier Transportation has received a 2013 German Design Award for its ZEFIRO 380 very high-speed train that currently is being manufactured in Germany and China.
The ZEFIRO won the award in the transportation and public space category. About 1,500 products that were nominated, including various vehicles, urban/street fittings and navigation systems.
The train has a maximum operating speed of 380 kph. It features an aerodynamic design, noise pollution controls and increased comfort for riders, according to Bombardier. And, the train's windows, lights, splitlines and graphics "create a distinctive appearance," the company said.
The ZEFIRO also has won the German iF Product Design Award, as well as the 2011 Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
