Last week, California High-Speed Rail Authority board member Robert Balgenorth announced he is stepping down from his post.
Balgenorth cited his upcoming retirement as president of the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California, and the recent progress of the high-speed rail project, as his reasons for resigning.
"It has been an honor … to assist in the advancement of this historic, innovative and critically needed transportation project," Balgenorth wrote in his resignation letter. "We have achieved much together and I am confident the board and its diligent and professional staff will continue on the path towards successfully building the nation's first high-speed rail system."
