Yesterday, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) announced board member Russell Burns will resign from his post, citing increasing demands of his professional responsibilities and noting that the project has “reached critical milestones,” according to a prepared statement.
Burns is the business manager for Operating Engineers Local 3. He was appointed to the CHSRA board in 2009 by the speaker of the California Assembly.
“Russ Burns has worked very hard to help bring high-speed rail to the point where we are ready to begin construction,” said CHSRA Board Chairman Dan Richard in a prepared statement. “Russ has been there at every critical juncture, as we’ve reshaped the project, brought in new management and prepared for the next phase of actually building the first leg of the system.”
