CHSRA completes grade separations in Fresno County

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) yesterday announced the completion of two new rail overcrossings in Fresno County.

The Mountain View Avenue and Floral Avenue grade separations are now open to the public. The structures were built to accommodate future high-speed rail service, according to a CHSRA press release. Construction began in 2023 on both structures and were built by contractor Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture (DFJV).

Located between Cedar and Peach avenues, the Mountain View grade separation is 368 feet long, 40 feet wide and required 1,600 cubic yards of concrete, 4,000 pounds of steel and 16 precast concrete girders.

Located between Cedar and Chestnut avenues, the Floral Avenue grade separation is 381 feet long, 40 feet wide and contains 1,600 cubic yards of concrete, 4,000 pounds of steel and 16 precast concrete girders.

“Grade separations are important to ensure safety around the surrounding communities during future operations,” said Garth Fernandez, CHSRA’s Central Valley regional director.
