The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) has extended the public review and comment period for the Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report/Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) for the Fresno-to-Bakersfield portion of the high-speed rail project.
The comment period has been extended to 90 days, ending Oct. 19, to “ensure comprehensive public participation,” according to a CHSRA press release. Stakeholder interest and time extension requests prompted the extension.
The authority initially provided a 60-day comment period when it released the document in July.
CHSRA will review comments issued and address them in the Final EIR/EIS, which is scheduled to be released in early 2013.
Meanwhile, the authority plans to hold public hearings to discuss the environmental documentation Aug. 27, 28 and 29 in Bakersfield, Hanford and Fresno, respectively.
