The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) last week completed and opened its Fargo Avenue overpass to traffic in Kings County.

Located east of State Route 43 and the city of Hanford, the overpass will take motor vehicle traffic over future high-speed rail lines. Constructed by Dragados Flatiron Joint Venture, the overpass spans 205 feet in length and more than 40 feet in width, CHSRA officials said in a press release.

The completion of the overpass marks another milestone on the California high-speed rail project, they said.

There now are 171 miles of track under design and construction from Merced to Bakersfield. More than 60 miles of guideway is completed, and of the 93 structures needed, 50 are completed and more than 25 are under construction.
