China Advanced Construction Materials Group Inc. (China ACM), which provides ready-mix concrete (RMC) and related technical services, recently obtained two high-speed rail contracts valued at $8.4 million.
Awarded by Beijing-based China Railway Construction Ltd., the contracts call for providing RMC manufacturing and related engineering services for the Hangzhou-Changsha high-speed rail line. Both contracts — a $6.2 million contract for 700,000 cubic meters of RMC and a $2.2 million agreement for 300,000 cubic meters of RMC — cover Section 2 of the project in Zhejiang Province.
China ACM estimates the market for high-speed rail RMC in China is about $15 billion during the next 10 years. The country’s 4,000-mile high-speed rail system is the longest in the world and is expected to double to 8,000 by end of 2012, according to a prepared statement. During the next decade, the Chinese Ministry of Railways plans to construct an additional 21,000 miles of railway track — more than half of which will be HSR — to more closely link the Central and Western regions to coastal provinces, China ACM said.
