Chinese Ministry of Railways changes high-speed train order with Bombardier joint venture

The Chinese Ministry of Railways recently made changes to a 2009 order it placed with Bombardier Transportation’s Chinese joint venture Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation Ltd.
After reviewing its operational strategy, the railway decided to vary its original order of 80 very high speed trains from to include 70 eight-car Bombardier ZEFIRO 380 trains, 46 ZEFIRO 250 stainless steel trains and 60 ZEFIRO 250NG trains.
The varied fleet will provide the Ministry of Railways with increased flexibility to provide passenger-rail service, according to a press release. The original contract value from 2009 remains the same.
