Chinese Ministry of Railways order 40 more CRH1 trainsets from Bombardier JV

A Bombardier Transportation joint venture has received an order for 40 additional CRH1 high-speed trainsets from the Chinese Ministry of Railways (MOR) valued at about $761 million.
Bombardier’s contract share is $373 million.
Per the contract, Bombardier Sifang Transportation Ltd. (BST) — which comprises Bombardier and CSR Sifang Rolling Stock Co. Ltd. — will produce 40 eight-car trainsets with the capacity to carry 604 passengers and operate at a speed of up to 250 kilometers per hour. Deliveries will begin in September and be completed by May 2011.
So far, MOR has ordered 1,280 CRH1 cars from Bombardier Sifang.
