Congressional hearing to focus on HSR in the Northeast Corridor

Tomorrow, Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), who serves as chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, will conduct a congressional hearing to discuss developing “true” high-speed passenger-rail service in the Northeast Corridor.
To be held at Grand Central Station in New York City, the hearing will focus on the need for private-sector participation and resources in developing, financing, constructing and operating high-speed rail.
Among the witnesses scheduled to testify: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg; former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell; U.S. High Speed Rail Association Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Thomas Hart; America 2050 Director Petra Todorovich; Morgan Stanley Managing Director Perry Offutt; and Transportation Communications Union International President Robert Scardelletti.
