Rail News: High-Speed Rail

DesertXpress President Stone retires

advertisement

Last week, DesertXpress Enterprises announced President Thomas Stone has retired from full-time service on the proposed high-speed rail project. The agency hasn’t yet said who will replace him.

In the coming months, the agency plans to complete the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the project, which is expected to break ground sometime next year.

DesertXpress would run about 200 miles between Victorville, Calif., and Las Vegas on dedicated right of way along Interstate 15. Trains would reach speeds up to 150 mph, making the nonstop trip between the two cities in about 80 minutes.
