Englewood Flyover project to spur job creation in Illinois
advertisement
Chicago’s Englewood Flyover project, which is pegged to receive $133 million in High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail Program stimulus funds, will create nearly 1,500 jobs in Illinois, according to Gov. Pat Quinn.
Part of the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program (CREATE), the project calls for building a triple-track rail flyover to carry north-south Metra Rock Island line trains over east-west Norfolk Southern Railway and Amtrak lines. The flyover will enable Metra trains to operate over the four NS tracks and a possible fifth high-speed rail connection.
The project will help establish high-speed rail service between Chicago and Detroit.
