HNTB hires four execs to help oversee Northeast rail projects

HNTB Corp. recently hired several new employees to its Northeast Division that will work on high-speed, intercity passenger-rail and transit projects. The hiring was “fueled by recent growth through several pursuits and project wins in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Connecticut,” according to a June 10 HNTB press release.

The firm has named Jeffrey Parker an associate vice president and senior project manager in its Philadelphia office. He has 22 years of experience at multimodal transportation agencies, with expertise in operations, maintenance, program management, legislative affairs, regional transit development and financial performance management. Parker most recently was commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

HNTB also hired Al Trotta as senior project manager in its Philadelphia office. He has more than 30 years of engineering experience, including 17 years at MTA Long Island Rail Road and the Port Authority Transit Corp. Trotta has experience with transportation projects such as bridges, passenger station rehabilitation, traction power, communication systems, substations, shops and yards. He most recently served as president and chief operating office for a Florida-based engineering firm.

Joseph Pizzurro has joined the firm’s New York office as an associate vice president and director of rail for the New York metropolitan area. He 16 years of experience with in-depth track, structural and civil engineering for rail-related design and construction. Pizzurro most recently was a senior project manager at an engineering firm, managing projects for several New York-area transit agencies.

Finally, Lester Eckrich has joined HNTB’s Wayne, N.J., office as a senior project manager. He previously spent 29 years at New Jersey Transit, where he worked his way up to chief engineer in the Capital Planning and Programs Division.
