Illinois high-speed bill advances in Senate
advertisement
Legislation that specifically authorizes a 220 mph high-speed rail network in the Midwest has passed the Illinois Senate Transportation Committee, according to the Midwest High Speed Rail Association.
Sponsored by Sen. Martin Sandoval, the bill would create the Illinois High Speed Rail Authority, an independent agency whose aim would be to develop a public-private partnership to build, operate, maintain and finance new tracks for passenger trains capable of traveling more than 150 mph.
The bill now will move to the Senate floor.
