Yesterday, Italian rail operator Trenitalia unveiled a full-scale mock-up of the Frecciarossa 1000, a high-speed train being built for the agency by Bombardier Transportation and consortium partner AnsaldoBreda.
The latest member of Bombardier’s ZEFIRO family of high-speed trains, the train will be able to reach speeds up to 225 mph and carry up to 600 passengers.
In September 2010, Trenitalia contracted Bombardier and AnsaldoBreda to supply 50 Frecciarossa trains. The first units are in production and tests will be conducted at the end of 2012.
