Knorr-Bremse Group’s Systems for Rail Vehicles division recently received two "significant commissions" to provide high-speed-rail-related components in China, according to a statement issued June 16.
Under one pact, a Knorr-Bremse Chinese subsidiary and its partner companies were enlisted to install braking and door systems in 1,120 cars for the CRH1-380 (“Zefiro-China”) high-speed train, which will be produced by the Bombardier Sifang Transportation joint venture. In a second contract, Knorr-Bremse and its China-based partners were commissioned to supply bogies for 1,920 rail cars that will be part of the CRH2-380 high-speed train, which will be manufactured by CSR Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co. Ltd. The two contracts are worth about $270.9 million. Deliveries will begin this summer and continue through 2012 or 2014.
