Federal lawmakers from Nevada and California this week wrote to U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg seeking support for Brightline West’s application for grant funding for the proposed Las Vegas-Los Angeles high-speed rail corridor.

Brightline West and the Nevada Department of Transportation applied for $3.75 billion in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail grant program.

Signing the letter were U.S. Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen (both D-Nev.); and U.S. Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford (all D-Nev.); Mark Amodei (R-Nev.); Jay Obernolte (R-Calif.); and John Garamendi, Nanette Diaz Barragan and Jimmy Gomez (all D-Calif.)

The $10 billion project calls for construction of a 260-mile, high-speed rail line between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The route would include stops in Palmdale, Victor Valley and San Bernardino, California, and connections to Metrolink and the California's future high-speed rail system.
