Russian Railways to begin Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed service next month

On Dec. 18, Russian Railways will launch service on its Sapsan high-speed train service between Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Trains will make the trip in three hours, 45 minutes. Current travel times are between four hours, 30 minutes and eight hours, according to the railway.


Each train will feature two first-class and eight second-class cars. Tickets for first-class seats — which include hot meals, reading materials and Internet access — are $185. Second-class tickets are $115.
