Design and engineering firm Scott Wilson Group plc recently obtained a $23.2 million contract from Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) to provide project management support for the Haramain high-speed rail project.
Under the five-year contract, the firm will provide technical, specialist engineering and program management support services to SRO, both at its Dammam headquarters and around the construction and commissioning sites.
The Haramain project will be the Middle East’s first high-speed rail line, according to Scott Wilson Group, linking the cities of Makkah, Jeddah, the new King Abdullah Economic City and Medina, as well as the international airport in Jeddah. Trains will operate on the 275-mile corridor at speeds up to 200 mph.
