Spanish National Railways (RENFE) recently awarded a $321.7 million contract to a Bombardier Transportation/Patentes Talgo consortium to maintain 16 AVE102 high-speed trains during the next 14 years.

Under its $154.5 million portion of the contract, Bombardier will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of the train power heads, power supply, signaling and propulsion system, and auxiliaries.

Bombardier and Talgo currently are manufacturing the trains, which will be used on Spain’s high-speed line between Madrid, Barcelona, and Le Perthus, France. Deliveries began last October and are scheduled to be complete in December.
