The St. Norbert College Survey Center recently conducted a telephone survey of randomly selected Wisconsin residents to determine support for the proposed high-speed rail line between Milwaukee and Madison. The findings: Survey respondents were split on whether or not they support high-speed rail service in the corridor, and most say they wouldn’t use it.
Conducted between Oct. 12 and Oct. 15, the survey showed that 14 percent of those questioned strongly supported the rail line, 30 percent somewhat supported it, 16 percent somewhat opposed it and 39 percent strongly opposed the project.
When asked if they were likely to use the rail service, 7 percent of the respondents said they were very likely to use it, 21 percent said somewhat likely, 11 percent said somewhat unlikely and 60 percent said they were very unlikely to use the service.
The survey included a margin of error of +/- 5 percent.
