advertisement
As part of a consortium, Thales recently obtained a $166 million contract from the Spanish Administrator of Railway Infrastructures (ADIF) to provide signaling, train protection, safety and security systems, as well as a centralized control center and fixed telecommunication network, for the Orense-Santiago de Compostela section of the North-Northwest high-speed rail tunnel.
The 55-mile section is part of the Madrid-Galicia high-speed line, which will connect Madrid with the Northwest of Spain. The section will be the first high-speed rail corridor in the Galicia region.
Thales will be responsible for designing, installing and maintaining European Train Control System Level 1 and 2, track circuits, axle counters and auxiliary systems. The firm also will provide part of the technical buildings and signaling shelters, and maintain all systems for three years.
