USDOT delegation visits France to assess HSR system

This week, officials from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) visited France to learn more about French National Railway SNCF, as well as European high-speed rail systems and operations. SNCF operates TGV, France’s high-speed rail network.
The visit was part of the an extended tour throughout France and Germany to meet with high-speed rail experts and learn about advanced technologies and systems. USDOT officials are gathering information from leading global rail experts, such as SNCF, as several states begin the initial procurement stages for high-speed rail development in the United States.
The delegation included Deputy Transportation Secretary John Porcari and Federal Railroad Administration Deputy Administrator Karen Rae.
