USDOT issues grant funds for Susquehanna River Bridge engineering, environmental work

Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced it obligated a $22 million grant to the Maryland Department of Transportation to complete preliminary engineering and environmental work for the Susquehanna River Bridge replacement.

The 105-year-old bridge is a major rail chokepoint on the Northeast Corridor — replacing it is a key component in the region’s long-term plan to expand capacity, and improve reliability and on-time performance for high-speed and regional trains.
