advertisement
Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced it obligated $7.9 million in High-Speed Intercity Passenger Rail funds to the Washington State Department of Transportation to construct a new station in Tukwila, Wash., replacing the current temporary structure.
The project calls for adding dedicated long-term parking, improved pedestrian and bus connections and passenger amenities, such as platforms and shelters, at the site. The upgrades will provide passengers with improved access to Amtrak Cascades and Sound Transit commuter-rail services.
