USDOT reimburses Wisconsin DOT for costs incurred on Milwaukee-Madison high-speed line
advertisement
Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) reimbursed the Wisconsin Department of Transportation $14.6 million for costs the state incurred on the proposed Milwaukee-Madison high-speed rail line, a Federal Railroad Administration spokesperson confirmed today to HSRupdates.com. The funds cover environmental, engineering and planning/design costs the state had paid.
The Wisconsin DOT received $810 million in High-Speed Intercity Passenger Rail funds for the project, but after Gov. Scott Walker said he would return the funds to the federal government once he took office in January 2011, the USDOT in late 2010 rescinded the funds.
