Union Pacific Railroad recently promoted Rich Castagna from superintendent of transportation services-Utah Service Unit to general superintendent of transportation services-Los Angeles Service Unit to succeed Tom Florence, who left the railroad. UP also named Tom Lischer as Castagna’s successor.

Castagna began his railroad career in 1993 as a switchman with the Chicago & North Western Railroad, which merged with UP in 1995. He previously held various operations department positions in Chicago, North Little Rock, Ark., East St. Louis, Ill., and Kansas City, Mo.

Lischer, who joined UP in 1995 as a national customer service center trainee, previously served in various marketing, sales and operations positions.

Meanwhile, Kansas City Southern named Thomas Naso assistant vice president of marketing for the intermodal and automotive business units.

Reporting to Executive VP of Sales and Marketing Daniel Avramovich and VP of Sales and Marketing-Automotive Michael Smith, Naso will be responsible for intermodal and automotive marketing in the United States and Mexico.

With 27 years’ experience in transportation and logistics, Naso most recently served as senior director-intermodal for UPDS, a UP subsidiary that provides intermodal logistics to the automotive industry.
