On Jan. 6, Burlington Northern Santa Fe named John Hickerson assistant vice president of truckload marketing. He will report to Steve Branscum, group vice president, consumer products.

Hickerson most recently served as president of Roadway Next Day Corp. In 1977, he began his trucking career with Roadway Express, serving as dock foreman and sales representative. In 1981, Hickerson joined Consolidated Freightways as terminal manager. In 1986, he began serving CF Truckload Group as director of sales, and later was appointed vice president of marketing and sales, then vice president and general manager.

Hickerson spent 22 years with the Con-Way group of companies, ending his stint as president and chief executive officer of Con-Way Southern Express before joining Roadway Next Day.

"With his vast experience and knowledge of the trucking industry, John possesses the vision and leadership needed to successfully enable BNSF to provide our domestic truckload customers with integrated transportation solutions," said Branscum in a prepared statement. "Our growth initiative and five-year revenue targets call for increasing our intermodal business."
