The North Carolina State Ports Authority's board recently authorized the appointment of Paul Cozza as executive director. Jeff Miles had been serving as the authority's interim executive director.Cozza, who has international transportation and logistics industry experience, previously served Maersk Lines in various leadership roles, including chief financial officer, senior vice president for finance and administration, and VP for network planning. He also spent more than a decade at CSX Corp./Sea-Land Service Inc., where he held such upper management positions as VP for terminal operations, general manager-Europe and tradelane director-Asia Container Services.The authority chose Cozza following an eight-month international search that attracted more than 100 top-tier candidates, state officials said in a press release. He will be responsible for overseeing the authority's ports in Wilmington and Morehead City, and inland terminals in Charlotte and Greensboro."Strong leadership is essential to expanding port business in North Carolina. Cozza brings years of business and leadership experience to the CEO position," said North Carolina Department of Transportation Secretary Tony Tata.
