The Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore logged 86,149 twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) units for the month of August, marking a new record for the number of TEUs handled in one month. The record number of TEUs beat the previous single-month record of 79,644 TEUs, which was set in June, according to a Maryland Port Administration press release.“The Port of Baltimore continues to demonstrate why it’s so important to the overall economic success of our state,” said Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. “This is another great example of how we are working to make Maryland open for business.” In 2014, the port’s public marine terminals posted a record year for general cargo, autos and containers. The port’s public and private marine terminals logged 29.5 million tons of international cargo at a value of nearly $53 billion.
