DaimlerChrysler implements vehicle-tracking system to monitor Mexican shipments

advertisement

DaimlerChrysler recently contracted Insight Network Logistics to provide a Spanish version of its Web-based VinVision® system to enable the automaker, distributors and dealers to monitor vehicle shipments by rail and truck in Mexico.

A wholly owned Union Pacific Corp. subsidiary, Insight Network Logistics has provided DaimlerChrysler vehicle supply-chain visibility in the United States and Canada since 2001, when UP and the automaker jointly formed the service provider.

Designed to track vehicle shipments from assembly plants to dealers, VinVision provides real-time location data and an estimated time of arrival for each inbound vehicle. The system features a network alert map designed to enable logistics managers to troubleshoot delayed shipments, and provides inventory data and supplier performance metrics.
