Pacer International Inc. has turned to a 30-year intermodal industry veteran — one who has railroading and trucking experience — to head its truck services unit. Today, the third-party logistics and freight transportation service provider name John Hickerson chairman and chief executive officer of Pacer Transport.

Russ Oldson will continue to serve as president of Pacer Transport and report to Hickerson.

Most recently vice president of domestic intermodal marketing and sales for BNSF Railway Co., Hickerson previously served as president of Roadway Next Day Corp., president and CEO of Con-Way Southern Express, and VP and general manager of CF Truckload Services.

“Hickerson will focus on the truck services unit’s performance and on expanding its highway capabilities through development of new retail trucking products — both organically and through potential future acquisitions,” said Pacer International Chairman and CEO Don Orris in a prepared statement.
