The Los Angeles Harbor Commission late last week approved a lease amendment that finalizes plans for a $52 million infrastructure project designed to increase on-dock rail capacity and reduce overall emissions at the Fenix Marine Services-operated Pier 300 terminal at the Port of Los Angeles.

Construction is expected to begin next year, Port of L.A. officials said in a press release.

When completed, the project will add five loading/unloading tracks in the intermodal yard at the Pier 300 terminal. The improvements will increase on-dock rail-yard capacity to allow more cargo to be loaded directly onto trains.

Other improvements will include grading and paving, fire protection, electrical improvements, striping and signage and additional storm drain design elements.

In January 2022, CMA CGM reacquired 100% of the Fenix Marine Services container terminal at the port.
