NS adds two weeks to intermodal service's credit earning period

Norfolk Southern Corp. is extending shippers’ credit earning period for its "2005 NS Blue Streak" intermodal service. Instead of expiring June 15, the period will end July 1.

Launched in January and available only at NS terminals, 2005 NS Blue Streak is designed to fill Equipment Management Program (EMP) and North American Container System (NACS) members’ equipment needs. The service enables shippers to earn credits until July 1 that can be redeemed for guaranteed containers and priority train-slot access between July 15 and Dec. 15.

Although equipment isn't guaranteed, NS plans to place the highest service priority on 2005 NS Blue Streak loads to ensure priority train loading, unloading and chassis mounting. EMP and NACS provide pools of 48- and 53-foot containers that can be used by program members.
