Aertssen Logistics USA Inc. has established a new facility about 14 miles from the Port of Savannah's Garden City Terminal, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) recently announced.

Belgian-based Aertssen will offer heavy equipment producers moving cargo through the port a processing and logistics services facility, GPA officials said in a press release.

The equipment processing center (EPC) serves manufacturers of agriculture, mining and construction machinery, the release said. The EPC provides logistics services, indoor and outdoor storage and various technical services. Aertssen Logistics partnered with private investors The Broe Group to develop the Savannah area operations hub.

“We see significant opportunities for growth, fueled by a strong U.S. economy with substantial investments in infrastructure, which are driving an increased demand for our customers’ machinery.” said Guus Verhaagen, Aertssen Logistics’ U.S. business development manager.

The first machines arrived at the Georgia facility in late May, and the collaboration with various partners has since necessitated further expansion.

Savannah Port Terminal, Norfolk Southern Railway and CSX serve the port.
