advertisement

Lately, BNSF Railway Co. has been moving a lot of freight — a record-setting amount. During the week ending May 20, the railroad handled 211,120 freight cars, trailers and containers, breaking the previous record of 210,030 units set during the week of Oct. 22, 2005. The figure includes traffic originated on BNSF and received from other railroads.

BNSF also handled a record weekly average of 208,706 units during a four-week period ending May 20. The railroad set the previous high-water mark of 207,525 units during a four-week period ending Nov. 12, 2005.
