The South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) announced yesterday that C&M Hog Farm has opened a transload facility at Inland Port Dillon, which is served by CSX.

The facility will handle soybeans and other agricultural products bound for overseas markets. Demand for facilities to transload the Carolinas' ag products has increased "significantly" since the port opened in April 2018, authority and state officials said in a press release.

"C&M is a great example of how the inland port is creating new opportunities of growth for our state's farmers," said Hugh Weathers, South Carolina's commissioner of agriculture.

Added Richard Myers, co-operator of C&M Hog Farm: "We are proud to expand our business operations in order to provide farmers with a new, competitive access point to the global marketplace."

Established in 1987, C&M is an independent hog farm, grain elevator and trucking company based in Latta, South Carolina.
