Beginning Feb. 14, CSX Intermodal and Union Pacific Railroad plan to provide "Passport" container service to western Mexico markets. The railroads will move 53-foot STAX containers across the U.S./Mexico border at Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.

CSXI and UP plan to provide access to more than 100 destinations and seven new Mexican commercial zones: Nogales, Santa Ana, Guyamas, Ciudada Obregon, and Hermosillo, Sonora; and Los Mochis and Culiacun, Sinaloa.

Through their joint Passport service, CSXI and UP provide 53-foot container and 48-foot trailer moves between the eastern and southeastern United States, and Mexico. CSXI's STAX domestic-container program offers intermodal shippers 53-foot high-cube containers — featuring 110-inch door openings and floors designed to withstand 24,000 pounds — and coast-to-coast logistics services.
