CSXI begins to move southern California-to-Southeast intermodal traffic through New Orleans terminal

More than seven months after Hurricane Katrina struck, CSX Intermodal has resumed routing eastbound intermodal traffic originating in southern California through its New Orleans terminal, which reopened last month.

CSXI recently began moving international and domestic traffic between southern California and several southeastern points — including Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C. — through the Big Easy facility.

However, the company isn’t yet offering intermodal service between southern California, and New Orleans and Mobile, Ala. CSXI still is attempting to restore service to and from the Big Easy.
