Next month, intermodal marketing companies (IMCs) and local trucking firms will have more control and better visibility of inbound equipment through CSX Intermodal. On Aug. 28, CSXI will launch SpeedMatch, an electronic load matching tool designed to improve empty intermodal equipment access.
SpeedMatch will enable IMCs to post future load opportunities against empty equipment supply posted by local truckers in a given region. The Web-based tool will reduce trips into and out of terminals, speed empty equipment assignments and expose CSXI to new business partners, according to a prepared statement.
“With today’s ever-increasing capacity constraints for truck fleets, drivers, rail equipment and terminal space, SpeedMatch will provide new opportunities and efficiencies to the entire intermodal industry,” said CSXI President Jim Hertwig.
