CSXI to raise monthly fuel surcharge in September 0.6 percent

advertisement

On Sept. 1, CSX Intermodal plans to increase its monthly fuel surcharge to 3.7 percent compared with 3.1 percent in August.

As published by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the retail price of diesel as of Aug. 25 was $1.50 per gallon. CSXI adjusts its monthly surcharge the first Monday of each month based on the difference between DOE's price index the previous Monday (in this case Aug. 25) and $1.10.
CSXI calculates the percent difference between DOE's "Retail Diesel Fuel Price Index" the last Monday of the month and $1.10, multiplies the figure by 10 percent and then multiplies it again by 100.

The surcharge applies to CSXI's ramp-to-ramp, ramp-to-door, door-to-ramp and door-to-door rates. The drayage-only fuel surcharge Sept. 1-7 will be 4 percent.
