Intermodal services provider ContainerPort Group (CPG) recently announced plans to move to a larger and more centrally located Indianapolis facility by Oct. 7.The new facility is located near Interstates 65, 70 and 465, and is well positioned to serve CSX Transportation's ramp and a newly opened Indiana Rail Road Co. ramp that's operated by CPG and accessed by CN, CPG officials said in a press release.The facility's increased acreage will enhance terminal throughput and provide customers with additional container yard and loaded trailer storage options, they said."This move strategically positions us for continued growth in the Indianapolis market," said Jim Kramer, CPG's senior vice president-commercial. "With the introduction of the Canadian National's direct rail service from Vancouver and Prince Rupert into Indianapolis, the opening of our new Indianapolis facility will provide CPG customers with the services they require to position themselves to capitalize on the growth in this market."CPG provides motor carrier and terminal services to railroads, ocean carriers, shippers, receivers and freight intermediaries, such as container drayage, equipment storage, and chassis and container repairs and maintenance. The company's Midwest and Ohio Valley network also includes facilities in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio; Kansas City, Mo.; Louisville, Ky.; St. Louis; Chicago; and Detroit.
