Diamond Logistics Northwest to expand facilities at Washington state port

Diamond Logistics Northwest (DLNW) recently secured 18 acres from the Port of Quincy, Wash., to expand its cross-docking and load consolidation facilities.

DLNW operates a 15,000-square-foot refrigerated warehouse for fruits and vegetables just north of Quincy. The newly acquired property will enable the company to create additional space for cold storage and truck loading/unloading operations, port officials said in a press release. The expansion would be built in phases, with the first scheduled for construction in the next 18 months.

The site acquisition by DLNW complements the port's emerging reputation as a "premier location" for produce packing and perishable product shipping and distribution, port officials said. The port features an intermodal terminal on a BNSF Railway Co. mainline, access to Interstate 90, and the Cold Train service provided via a partnership between the port, BNSF and Rail Logistics.

For the past six months, DLNW has been involved in a pilot program with the Cold Train to enhance its service by offering refrigerated and expedited intermodal transportation options available in Quincy, port officials said.

"During that time, we have seen operational benefits for Cold Train and its customers," said Cold Train President Steve Lawson. "Many of our customers have been requesting cross-dock and consolidation services, and DLNW has provided that service seamlessly."
