Ellerman City Liners yesterday launched a new trans-Atlantic route to the Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport).

The U.K.-based shipping company will begin calling the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal at Blount Island Marine Terminal with the arrival of container ship SC Mara late next month, Jaxport officials said in a press release.

The biweekly service offers transit times of 13 to 17 days from North Europe to Jacksonville. The route originates at Antwerp, Belgium, and continues to Rotterdam, Netherlands; Tilbury, England; New York City; and Wilmington, North Carolina, before terminating at Jacksonville.

Ellerman will move auto parts, clothing, alcoholic beverages and other consumers goods through Jaxport, while providing export capabilities for U.S.-made goods, including forest products.

The port is served by CSX, Norfolk Southern Railway and Florida East Coast Railway.
