FTA awards $6.7 million to build Albuquerque intermodal center
advertisement
Yesterday, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced it awarded a $6.7 million grant to construct the Montano Intermodal Center in Albuquerque, N.M., which will connect riders to the New Mexico Rail Runner Express.
The 4-acre center is located on Montano Road, a major connector that crosses the Rio Grande and is one of only a few streets that spans Albuquerque, FTA officials said in a prepared statement.
The pueblo-revival style building will offer riders real-time information, electronic kiosks, bike racks, lockers, free Wi-Fi service and video camera surveillance for security. The proposed design includes “green” features, such as LED lighting, solar panels and rainwater capture.
